1988–1995:UFO Idles in Full Bloom—The Rapid Growing Period of Taiwan’s Popular Music
In 1988, under Peng Kuo-Hua’s proactive planning, the UFO Group set about on its mission to cultivate the musical careers of local Taiwanese idols. They discovered many new stars, including the Little Tigers, who won the fierce competition in the TV show “TV New Star Contest” produced by Chang Hsiao-Yen. It also included the stars who participated in the movie “Seven Wolves,” notably Chang Yu-Sheng, who won the first Popular Music Contest; Samuel Tai; Orient Express; Sun, Moon, and Stars; and UFO’s most famous idol, Dave Wong. Other idols the company made famous included Augustine Yeh, Yu Huan Pai Tui, and The Boys.
