Soar to new heights
Following this, the brand was repeatedly invited to global top-tier art fairs, earning numerous awards and achieving major success at auctions. Three pieces from the Black Label Masterpiece series were permanently acquired by prestigious museums in the UK, US, and France, cementing the brand’s status on the international art stage.
2013-14 Black Label Masterpiece I Ballerina Butterfly Brooch
In 2014, Cindy Chao collaborated with actress and philanthropist Sarah Jessica Parker to create the "Ballerina Butterfly Brooch," a project spanning two years. The brooch blends the elegance of a ballet dancer with the grace of a butterfly, designed to be worn in multiple orientations, offering two artistic interpretations.
This piece combines Cindy Chao’s expert jewellery craftsmanship with Parker’s artistic vision, featuring lightweight titanium and large, raw diamonds. Three conch pearls, symbolising Parker’s children, add a personal touch to the design.
At Sotheby’s Hong Kong in 2014, the brooch sold for $1.21 million, more than double its estimate. The proceeds were donated to the New York City Ballet to support young dancers and choreographers. This collaboration marked the beginning of Cindy Chao’s charitable efforts and was a significant milestone in her artistic journey.
