2022 Black Label Masterpieces XI & X Spring Cardamom Brooches
Inspired by early spring’s renewal, the 2022 "Spring Cardamom Brooches" reflect Cindy Chao’s innovative 3D-3 sculpting technique, taking her signature craftsmanship to new heights. For the first time, she applied colour theory, layering shades like in oil painting, creating a three-dimensional aesthetic. Featuring yellow diamonds, emeralds, tsavorites, and 28 different shades of green gemstones, the design blends colour, cut, and light to create a dynamic effect.
Two cabochon-cut Colombian emeralds, each weighing around 80 carats, form the centre of the brooches, symbolising spring cocoons. These emeralds, combined with hollow diamond spheres, are arranged using a mortise-and-tenon structure, making them appear to float. The interplay of solid and hollow elements embodies an artistic fusion, representing a bold exploration of space and form.
