The theme of the 20th Anniversary Collection, the dragonfly, was a source of inspiration for Art Nouveau masters like René Lalique and Henri Vever, who left behind many great works. Known as the king of flying insects, the dragonfly, despite its fragile appearance, can fly at speeds of 50 to 100 km/h, embodying both grace and strength. While Cindy Chao’s "Annual Butterfly" symbolises the artist’s transformation, the "dragonfly," capable of flying against the wind at high speed, represents her unwavering dedication and courage over the past 20 years, reflecting her bold spirit of breaking boundaries, bridging East and West, and looking towards the future.
Each dragonfly brooch in this 20th Anniversary Collection features uniquely crafted wings, with Cindy drawing from her keen observation of nature. She uses a blend of gemstones and colours, and the dragonflies are constructed from titanium, gold, horn, and resin. The combination of these materials requires careful consideration of flexibility and hardness, with precision-designed clasps and extensive polishing and reshaping to ensure flawless alignment from every angle. This collection perfectly embodies Cindy's philosophy of transcending boundaries and fusing Eastern and Western influences, showcasing her creative freedom and confidence, as well as her relentless pursuit of artistic and technical excellence.
