Roger&mimi

In the late 1980s, Chen Chih-Yuan met his then girlfriend Mimi (Chen Ruo Kui) at the famous dance hall Kiss at the Mandarin Oriental, Taipei. Mimi was a close friend of Delphine “Wawa” Chin when Wawa was studying at Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School. Mimi had formed a girls’ group, Mimi&Coco&Yaya. The single “Three Loves” was written by Angus Tung and arranged by Chen Chih-Yuan. It was just that back then, they did not know each other. Mimi’s father was a pastor, and she majored in dance. She was outgoing and direct, a stark contrast to Chen’s contrary personality. Because their differences, when they fought, they fought fiercely. After one particular argument, Mimi decided to leave him. Facing the prospect of an empty home, Chen realized that he could not live without her and was filled with emotions. He quickly wrote the melody of the song “Home Again Without You” and gave it to Ting Hsiao-Wen to fill in the lyrics. Based on what had happened, Ting wrote the lyrics, which made this song a classic. Once the song was recorded, Chen used the master tape and photos of happy memories from when he and Mimi were dating to make an apology video for Mimi. When Mimi watched it, she was greatly moved. They both realized that they could not live without each other, so they decided to settle down and make their own home together. After they formed a family, they continued to be very affectionate with each other. Although during their daily interactions, Chen was as stubborn as a mischievous child, both angering and amusing Mimi, he never forgot to express his love for her in many creative ways. From hand-written love letters and computer-generated illustrations to taped love letters recorded specifically for Mimi, the items he gave her are proof of their many years of sweet memories as husband and wife.
