Installation arts of Chen Chin-Yuan's wife, Mimi Chen Juo-Kuei
After Chen Chih-Yuan passed away, his wife Mimi Chen Juo-Kuei was unable for a long time to accept the fact that he was no longer around. She was invited by a friend to participate in an exhibition, and she started her life of creating art installations. The inspirations for these four pieces were Chen’s musical works. “If One Day I Am Gone, the Tree Still Exists” is a little desk made of gold-plated materials that represents the Ming and Qing dynasties. It symbolizes the land that disseminates knowledge and cultivates more and superior musical works. It conveys the deep influence that Chen’s music had on all the musicians of later generations. The main component of “Miss You Every Day” is a sedan chair. The little toy bears represent the days spent with Chen, as well as the thoughts of Chen that filled every day. “The Last Night” conveys that in each stage in life, there is a wonderful last night, and those valuable memories are to be deeply treasured. “Deep and Sweet” represents a little secret of happiness belonging to oneself. It is deep like a secret and sweet like intoxication.
