Original 78 RPM Record of “Moonlight Stroll”

Era:1934 Exhibition loan unit:Mr. Lin Tai-wei - Released in 1934 by Victor Records, “Moonlight Stroll” was composed by Chang Fu-hsing, with lyrics written by Lin Qing-yue. The song was issued under the genre kayō chō (歌謠調), a Japanese-influenced ballad style. Chang Fu-hsing, head of Victor’s Literary and Artistic Department and the first Taiwanese musician to study in Japan, performed this duet with soprano Ko Ming-chu, who was also educated in Japan. At the time, Taiwan’s two prominent sopranos represented different musical paths—Lin Shih-hao was self-taught, while Ko Ming-chu received formal academic training. Chang Fu-hsing remains the only known department head in prewar Taiwan to personally appear as a vocalist on record.
