Xiangshan Visitor Center is one of the must-visit attractions in the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Designed by internationally renowned Japanese architect Norihiko Dan, the structure is inspired by the concept of "embracing Sun Moon Lake." Emphasizing harmony with nature, the architectural complex consists of two curved buildings: the Xiangshan Visitor Center on the west and theSun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters on the east.
Constructed using exposed concrete with a wood grain texture and prestressed engineering techniques, the center features a sloping roof, a semi-open space with a 34-meter span, and an infinity pool that seamlessly blends with the lake. The design incorporates Oriental Zen-style framing techniques, ensuring a harmonious integration between the architecture and the surrounding landscape. The smooth architectural lines, combined with the lake’s emerald waters, lush green lawns, blue skies, and the gray tones of exposed concrete, create a dynamic aesthetic that shifts beautifully with changing perspectives, times of day, and seasons.
This architectural masterpiece is not only a symbol of coexistence with nature but also a landmark offering breathtaking views of Sun Moon Lake’s stunning scenery.
