Longfeng Temple

In Showa 9 (1934), the Sun Moon Lake Hydroelectric Power Plant was initiated, leading to the relocation of Longfeng Temple from its original site in ShuiShe to its current location on the northern shore of Sun Moon Lake. Since then, it has become an important spiritual center for local residents. The temple enshrines Chankui Zushi , Mazu, and Xuantian Shandi, all deeply revered by devotees. The 921 Earthquake in 1999 caused damage to the Yue Lao Pavilion on Lalu Island. In 2000, as the Thao people successfully advocated for Lalu Island to be recognized as their ancestral spiritual dwelling, the Yue Lao Pavilion was relocated to Longfeng Temple, where it continues to serve as a sacred site for faithful prayers and wishes. Originally built on Lalu Island in 1980, the Yue Lao Pavilion was Taiwan’s first temple dedicated to Yue Lao, the God of Marriage. Since its establishment, the Nantou County Government has hosted annual mass wedding ceremonies on the lake, bringing countless couples together in matrimony. Today, Yue Lao remains worshipped in Longfeng Temple, where his divine blessings continue to be widely revered and celebrated. We sincerely invite you to visit Longfeng Temple, experience the sacred protection of Yue Lao, and pray for your wishes to come true.
