Jiulongkou

Jiulongkou (Nine Dragons Mouth) is located along the lakeside of Sun Moon Lake and is one of the most famous landmarks in the area. Its name comes from the shape of the terrain, which resembles nine dragons converging at the same point. According to legend, in ancient times, nine evil dragons resided in the lake, stirring up storms and causing harm to nearby villages. One day, a sage arrived and used magic to subdue the dragons, imprisoning them at the lake's bottom and transforming them into nine streams of water, symbolizing peace and stability. Since then, Sun Moon Lake has been calm, and Jiulongkou has become a lucky symbol protecting the lake. Today, Jiulongkou attracts countless visitors with its expansive viewing platform and breathtaking lake and mountain scenery. In the early morning, the lake is often shrouded in mist, creating a magical, fairy-tale-like atmosphere that captivates all who visit, making it a perfect place to experience the beauty of nature.
