(Video)In the Recording Studio of Golden Songs, we have reproduced Chen Chih-Yuan’s multi-track recordings from the 1980s. We invited several senior musicians, including the legendary Gang of Four, who had worked in close cooperation with Chen Chih-Yuan. These included Rich Huang, the “King of Drums” in Taiwan, keyboardist Chen Yu-Li, senior guitarist James Ni, and several emerging musicians, such as guitarist Josh Tu and bassist OD (Lin Hung-Yi). Under the direction of producer Lee Shou-Chuan, they recorded multiple tracks simultaneously to reinterpret parts of Chen Chih-Yuan’s three classics: “The Last Night,” “Never Turning Back,” and “Same Moonlight.” We invite you to listen to the musicians performing classic phrases while peeping into the boundless creativity hidden in the notes in each section of Chen Chih-Yuan’s full score for each voice.
“Never Turning Back” was the theme song of the movie “Seven Wolves”, released in 1989, and it caused a sensation. Back then, the UFO Group gathered their idols and stars, including Dave Wong, Chang Yu-Sheng, Samuel Tai, Orient Express, and Sun, Moon and Stars, to collaborate on this song. In this reprint version, we were honored to have Jack Yao, the lead singer of the now defunct Orient Express, return to the recording studio to contribute his beautiful tenor voice and take us back to the passionate era.
