First Bank in Taiwan to Establish a Service Center for SMEs

On August 15, 1967, First Bank established the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Service Center, becoming the first among three commercial banks to respond to government policy. This initiative was directed by the Ministry of Finance to various institutions, including the Taiwan Bank, but First Bank was the only institution to set up an SME Service Center. The guidelines for the establishment, execution results, and challenges faced by First Bank's SME Service Center were documented and shared to provide a reference for other banks considering the creation of their own SME service departments.
