Born with a sense of music and natural talent, Chen Chih-Yuan shone in the realm of popular music. In the meantime, he was highly enthusiastic about image creation.
In the 1990s, he extended his interest to the SNG camera, which was expensive, bulky, and heavy. Enticed by video recording, he purchased a full set of equipment for video recording and developed an interest in taking amateur videos of daily life.
Chen Chih-Yuan rarely appeared in front of the camera. Rather, he was happy to be the man behind it. Family and friends became the protagonists in his viewfinder. Every time they took a trip or went on holiday, it was like going on location. Chen Chih-Yuan lugged around the heavy recording equipment to record the memories of the trips with his family. He even played the role of director, giving directions on blocking and the way his “actors” appeared in front of the camera.
In the 1990s, after he emigrated to Canada, he had more leisure time to study the new computer illustration software, editing software, and three-dimensional animation software of the time. At that time, he thought about retiring from the popular music industry and joining the image creation and animation industry, opening a brand-new path in an untrod field and starting a new peak in his career.
It was a pity that, due to the high threshold of entering this industry and his health, Chen Chih-Yuan did not go into the image creation industry. However, he left numerous family videos and images completed with the earliest editing software. Of course, this software and hardware cannot compete with current technology, but the films still presented Chen Chih-Yuan’s style as a poker-faced comedian and reflected his intentions for the images.
