Wang Chih-Lei, full score, 1985

Wang Chih-Lei debuted in the 1970s. Before she joined the UFO Group, she signed with the Feiling Record Company. She sang many famous TV drama theme songs for Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd., such as “Far Ends of Sea & World” and “Autumn Water & Vast Sky.” She won the nickname “Queen of the theme songs for 8PM TV Drama.” In 1985, she joined the UFO Group. At the time, she had no memorable features that set her apart from the crowd. Thus, the UFO Group needed to give her public image a makeover. Wang’s new album included the theme song for Taiwan Television’s 8PM drama “Flowers Have Fallen, But It Was Still Spring.” The drama portrayed students studying abroad in the 1980s. After producer Chen Fu-Ming composed the theme song, he found the poet Chen Ke-Hua, who was then a medical student, to delve into the feelings of students studying abroad. He then composed the classic “Taipei’s Sky.” This new album was titled “Wang Chih-Lei’s Sky”. The photo on the album was designed by the famous photographer Tu Ta-Hsiong. In the photo, Wang is framed against a blue sky, his silk scarf blowing in the wind, a visual breath of fresh air. Invited by his good friend Chen Fu-Ming, Chen Chih-Yuan was responsible for the arrangement of the entire album.
