不喜拘束與造作，喜愛嘗試多變、率真的創作風格。在創作過程裡，藝術家廖述乾一直試著擺脫習慣性的理智判斷，以不同的角度，用心去體驗現實週遭之人、事、物所給予的靈感。

當創作随著心念起伏而逐漸成形，在過程中才能不斷的發現美。美是本然存在的；但你若沒有發現它，它就是等於不存在。這就是一種單純的自給自足，一種內在的修為道路!也是讓廖述乾多年來一直深信不疑，且樂在其中的創作原由。

In the process of creation, artist Shu-Chien Liao has been trying to get rid of his habitual rational judgment and experience the inspiration given by the people, things and things around him from different angles.
When creation takes shape with the ups and downs of mind, beauty can be found in the process. Beauty exists naturally; But if you don't find it, it doesn't exist. 人們因所處的環境而改變心境，而心境的轉變進而創造環境，即所謂的「相由心生，境隨心轉」。
此次「相由心生」展覽中，精選藝術家廖述乾創作生涯中三個具代表性的系列作品，創作研究以回歸生命本質，試圖喚起內心深刻的質樸記憶。

形態-此系列作品擺脫以往的束縛，以新的角度新的觀點，不再表現客觀的形，而努力發掘自我心靈的形，採用抽象創作的表現方式，用感覺代替觀察，以心觀物，並利用各種手法，將雕塑擠壓、拉扯、延伸、凸出、凹陷，各種豐富又優雅的姿態，融於作品之中。

三太子「哪吒」在台灣一直都是民間信仰的一部份，選擇此一角色目的是要彰顯其不畏懼強權，伸張正義之精神。將《封神榜》中的「哪吒」做為創作題材，加以型塑，並融合東方古典美學與現代孩童造型。

童顏歡趣-則以心為走軸、以直觀精巧的孩童面容與姿態，喚起觀著孩提時期的酸甜點滴。將銅雕注入飽滿的歡趣氣氛，留住真摯熱情的童趣時光。創作秉持從心出發，將歡樂與愛融合作品中，期待激起人們心中的熱情。
