日治時期是現代西方醫學在臺灣制度化發展的重要階段,除設置公立醫院外,總督府也設立醫學校培養基層醫師,這些在第一線守護嘉義民眾的醫師其生活經歷與診所建設豐富了嘉義的人文歷史與街道風景。
2018-2020年間,臺灣圖書室執行「老醫館故事撰寫計畫」,透過建築、物件及故事的交織,已然呈現嘉義市醫療史的重要輪廓。它們的群聚現象及其所承載的歷史、空間、故事,是臺灣基層醫療文化的縮影。本展覽以上述文獻為基礎,以人-「醫者」、空間-「醫館」、城市-「醫者町」為核心,呈現嘉義市基層醫療文化的特殊性,並展望未來
During the Japanese colonial period, modern Western medicine was established in Taiwan. Public hospitals and medical schools were established to train doctors. The doctors who cared for the people of Chiayi contributed to the city's cultural history and streetscape.
The Taiwan Library conducted the "Old Clinic Story Writing Project" from 2018 to 2020. By combining architecture, objects, and stories, they presented the medical history of Chiayi City. This exhibition focuses on people (healers), space (clinics), and the city (doctor towns) to showcase the uniqueness of grassroots medical culture in Chiayi City and look to the future.
