Peanut Mochi Backpack

Sunnyrush

Sunnyrush believes that while functionality is important, the product development process must also consider the age and skill level of the artisans. Ensuring that artisans are not excluded from the industry due to their age or abilities is a key priority. By evaluating their weaving skills in advance, Sunnyrush designs practical and functional rush grass products that align with their expertise, commissioning their work to activate a production line for rush grass crafts. The Peanut Mochi Backpack is a collaborative effort with a local weaving group composed of 12 artisans aged 50 to 80. They gather weekly to weave, not only honing their skills to prevent physical decline but also strengthening social bonds. Over five years of partnership, these artisans have refined their foundational weaving techniques to meet the standards required for commercialization. This has enabled the creation of the Peanut Mochi Backpack, a craft product that blends contemporary design with practicality Founded in 2016 by Liao Yi-Ya and Li Yi-Shen, Sunnyrush is a brand dedicated to the people within the rush weaving industry, with a strong focus on the ecological aspects of the supply chain and the well-being of artisans and other stakeholders.
