Y2K團隊在2018年時啟動了「Biosignal」實驗系列,旨在採集活體生物的生命訊號,經及時運算串聯起跨物種的共同經驗,擴展人類對於其他物種「知」的理解與重新討論。為詮釋人類所創造的衍伸物/混生演化物繼續發展至具有進行交流、群體決策的猜想,Y2K以賦權作品作為投身於展場的實驗。展覽作品以植物的生命訊號作為源頭,擁有感知、代謝並且具有回應刺激的能力,同時透過無機技術交換個別感知得到的環境訊息,如光、溫度、濕度、空氣中氣體比例……等,眾作品以訊號交織出一套中樞系統,將以共同調控展場內的環境條件作為反饋。   當訊號得以跨越不同個體與物種遊走,物種間的界線越來越不復存在,展場亦成為個串連個體訊號所構成的半封閉生態系統。而處於非人類主宰的場域中,也被納入訊息來源的觀者,究竟在恢恢天網中做為一個人,或是一絲感覺神經元? Launched by the Y2K team in 2018, the “Biosignal” experimental series aims to collect the bio-signals from living creatures and reflect the trans-species shared experiences through real-time computing, so as to expand our understanding of other species and spark further discussions. To interpret the speculation as to artificial derivatives/hybridized organisms evolve towards possessing the abilities of communication and collective decision-making, Y2K specifically created empowered works as its experimentation in the venue. Treating the plants’ bio-signals as headwaters, the exhibits are able to perceive, metabolize, and react to stimuli on the one hand, and exchange the environmental information (e.g., light, temperature, humidity, atmospheric components, etc.) they perceived individually via inorganic techniques on the other. These exhibits thus form a hub system with signals, and the system sends feedback by regulating the environmental condition in the venue. Once signals transcend the physical confines of individuals and travel across different species, the inter-species boundaries will be gradually blurred. The exhibition venue is shaped into a semi-closed ecosystem consisting of interconnected individual signals. Is each viewer, while being included as a signal source, still a person or a mere sensory neuron in this nature-dominated realm, from which escape is nowhere on the horizon?
